History
Plate Marine S.A. was formed in 1951. It was both a type-C and a type-E company mainly engaged in tourism. It was one of the companies that between 1951-1959 purchased shares of the Société des Bains de Mer and eventually took control of the company that owned Monaco’s most important businesses: the Casino, the Opera House and the famous Hôtel de Paris. Also, it was the company that was responsible for supplies and parts for ships and aircraft. After 1975 the company passed to the Christina Onassis Group of companies owned by ATOL and managed by OMSA. After 1999 the ownership of Christina Onassis Group of Companies passed to her daughter Athina Onassis. The management of the companies was still held, separately from the Alexander S. Onassis Foundation Companies, until 1999. The company was dissolved in 2000.
